I think it's making me feel sea-sick: Cursor

Patrick Stewart's starring role of MacBeth has won him the Best Actor 2007 Evening Standard Theatre Award. Director Rupert Goold also picked up Best Director award. More Details

Pigeon Point Lighthouse

Jeepers, every year this lighthouse has its bulb changed and stuff. That is some sight.

More here.

NPR

The National Public Radio in the States has a whole pile of tunes to listen to, sessions, concerts all the rest of it. Ch check it out.

Tegan and Sarah are there too!

And because i'm on a Stax buzz

(lol, while youtubing Stax it came up with Stacey and Max in Eastenders loads of times!)

These lads and lassies were session musicians and all at Stax, imaginary jamming with Otis Redding.

Shaft - Isaac Hayes

Green Onions - Booker T and the MGs

Tram - Otis Redding & Carla Thomas (another weird video)

Try a Little Tenderness - Otis Redding

Plenty more here at the Stax blog.

Because Sometimes you need a bit of drama

My flatmate L was meant to be singing with the choir in the concert hall on Friday but had to cancel cos of her wisdom teeth. I don't mean the drama is good for her, but Carmina Burana is so cool!

I'm sorry i couldn't find a proper choral version, but this has to do...
This is a weird video of it...especially the eyes at the end, very weird! Now you can sing along...in place. Or just close your eyes and enjoy the crap out of it.

Birds Do it

Bees do it, well probably. Anywho the buzz seems to be reviews of the year and all that jazz. So i was trying to think of stuff i've enjoyed this year. Haven't finished thinking yet, and it's still November. But soon.

In Honour of me

Getting tickets tomorrow, because I will be getting tickets. I am getting tickets. I love Bruce
Accoustic: Sigh.

No no no no no

They are going to REMAKE Fr. Ted. Why would they do this??

Comedic actor John Michael Higgins ("Best in Show," "Fred Claus") has been cast in the lead role of an American remake of cult Irish comedy "Father Ted."

More on Dark Horizons.

Worst. Idea. Ever.

So

I've returned from my stateside adventure. It was great fun.

I was on this feckin unbelievable shop called Costco. With the dollar as it is, it's like you get half of everything for free. Which quite frankly is fantastic.
I was also in New York for the day, how excited can one person be? the answer is very. Even though we didn't manage to get up teh Empire State, (did you know it lights up for various reasons?)
There was zero visability so we were encouraged not to go up. So we didn't, but i saw Times Square, which burns the eyes in a great way, Macy's Windows, Saks of 5th Avenue, Rockefeller Centre, Hank Azaria(!!!)and Robin Williams! I had Grand Marnier Coffee and Smores in this gorgeous coffee shop, and bout my kids watch from that giant swatch watch store!

I was in an outlet store called Clinton Crossing (smirk) and i got about a million clothes from Gap with a 70% off coupon, that i got from another customer.

Anyway apart from all the Shopping, i was there for thanksgiving. Thanksgiving was a lovely thing. There were 26 people together at my aunts house, most were my relations and it was lovely to see everyone. We all set down together in the one room, had loads of wine and food, and then i went to see that Enchanted Film. Which was actually quite entertaining!

My favourite bits were: New York.
My new camera

Football Game
The Malls, they are so massive!
seeing loads of teh family again.
It was snowing one of the days, a deer ran behind the house where we were staying, it was lovely!
i've gotten over my fear of mice, more or less.
Generally it was very fun!

But i am glad to be home, and weirdly glad to be at work!

ok so

i'm in the us. I'm watching NFL, didn't ya know the patriots are on a winning streak, that tom brady! there's someone talking about spaceships,

i've gotten a touchescreen camera,
i've been to a gap outlet mall,
i've seen many many christmas lights already,
i've seen squirrels on drugs, probably
i've felt a sense of foreboding in numerous places,

it's due to snow maybe tomorrow (im gonna settle down)
i had a cookie today that nearly made me hurl
dunkin donuts does deadly,
and possibly most importantly...ive seen an ad for new heroes!

Woah

Big News

My Bloody Valentine are back, and gonna be playing some shows! Woah like! NME has the 411.

Hmm....EP vs Oxe?

The White Stripes are hooking up with Beck Hansen and Jack learns to bullfight with a professional. The White Stripes revealed that Beck was their secret collaborator there a while ago...I didn't even know they had a secret collaborator. D'Oh. Rolling Stone is all over it.
The most noteworthy revelation is that Beck has been cast as their “secret collaborator”. The duo recorded three songs in Mr. Hansen’s living room, with all three Beck-produced songs landing on the B-side of a trio of multi-colored 7″s for the next single, “Conquest.”

The “Black vinyl” includes “It’s My Fault for Being Famous,” which features Beck on vocals and piano, while the “White vinyl” has “Honey, We Can’t Afford to Look This Cheap,” which has Beck on slide guitar. The “Red vinyl” contains “Cash Grab Complications on the Matter,” which simply just has Beck as producer. If you can’t get your hands on any of these 7″s, or you just don’t have a record player, all three, plus a mariachi version of “Conquest,” will be available digitally.

and

I'm going to be eating some yams soon. They are different to Sweet Potatoes.

It's Science Week

Ta-da. I 've actually never been so intrigued about anything as i am about Superstrings, which was on in NUIM for science week last night.

Einstein + Violins = V interesting.

Anyway Damo (i hope he doesn't mind me calling him that), is asking all sorts of sciencey things including: “What invention do you want to see most in the future?”

Hmm....I've been thinking about this, and realised, i was thinking of what i think would actually be invented as opposed to what i would most like to see invented which really can only be held in by whatever you can imagine. I'd like some kind of brain paintbrush.

Ok that sounds weird, I'm not really sure how the invention would work, maybe through something like wi-fi, although i realise it would bring up a lot of brain washing ideas and the like.

I'd like it in relation to dreams, i hate that feeling where you wake up, and a dream is just at the tip of your mind, but you can't grasp it. Sometimes i'd like to be able to reflect a bit more on them. Although maybe there's a reason you can't quite figure them out, in fact there probably is.

hhmmm

Ha ha ha ha

I actually laughed at this!!! I think cats are so funny.

Sgt Podge is collected by car every day

Sgt Podge is collected between 0800 and 0815 GMT every day
A cat is baffling his owner by wandering off at night before expecting to be collected by car every morning at exactly the same time and place.

Sgt Podge, a Norwegian Forest Cat, disappears from his owner's home in Talbot Woods, Bournemouth, every night.

The next morning, the 12-year-old cat can always be found in exactly the same place, on a pavement about one and a half miles (2.4km) away.

His owner, Liz Bullard, takes her son to school before collecting Sgt Podge.

She said the routine began earlier this year, when Sgt Podge disappeared one day.

Ms Bullard rang the RSPCA and began telephoning her neighbours to see if anyone had seen him.

An elderly woman who lived about one and a half miles away called back to say she had found a cat matching Sgt Podge's description.

Ms Bullard collected him but within days he vanished again. She rang the elderly woman to find Sgt Podge was back outside her home.

From the BBC, hilarious!

John Cage

Of 4'33 fame.
John Cage, Water Walk.

using a water pitcher, bathtub, and 5 radios all hooked up. This is crazy. He's got some really interesting ideas.

4'33 is amazing actually

kudos to EP for putting this into my head.

Some stuff

The People's Elbow, I just found out what this was...

the people's elbow was one of the signature moves of the rock. first he would look at the croud. then pull off his elbow pad in slow motion and throw it into the crowd. then he would run left, bounce off the ropes then over the guy on the ground, bounce off the ropes again. then he would kick his right leg up and drop his elbow ont the man's heart.

The Urban Dictionary rocks.

Jeepers: a FIRE TORNADO.

That is both freaky and impressive..and possibly altered I'm not sure about video editing and the like.

In other news: I'm getting some new tunes including that new Sigur Ros audio from the DVD thingy. Pithcfork has a fine interview bit with Sigur Ros.
As well as that i'm getting some Gram Parsons Reprise Anthology thing and some BBC Live Lounge stuff and that established 1967 CD.

Oh and i was on the radio this morning... that was fun.

Don't go messing with Chabal

He's right you know.

See i'm not the only one...but this is particularly lame, not content though obviously.

I've no idea what he's saying...but then he starts singing..it's all worth it.

This is probably going too far. :/

Cat Face

It's episode 5....where is episode 6???

I think i posted this before...but cat face is too funny.

So funny, always

Edit: I just found this, it's like a weird homemade video with the ODDEST music ever. There's a few youtubes, but none as good as the comic strip stylee thing.

James Bond

I'm on a serious buzz today...You Only Live Twice i think might just be my favourite.
"you only live twice, and twice is the only way to live"

has a great song too!

those trailers are hilarious!

This is just cos Nobody Does it Better is my favourite theme song, and cos this has plenty of Daniel Craig, which is a good thing i think

and cos...why not?

arctic monkeys do shirley bassey. Although not as well, still entertaining. because i couldn't get Ms Bassey doing it.

To be fair

This is the lamest quiz i've ever seen.

Not like the one in The Ticket, which has questions like this.

Denzel Washington smuggles drugs. Jason Biggs does something terrible with a dessert. Kevin Spacey has a midlife crisis. Richard Gere sells sexual favours. What's the connection?

FIENDISH!

Banana Wave

Thousands of bananas have been washed up on two Dutch islands in the North Sea after several containers fell off a cargo ship in a storm, officials say.

I wish they had just appeared, that would have been cool. From the BBC.

Just chillin on the street

I would love to see this on the streets of Dublin...or anywhere really.

It's Beirut aka Zach singing Knife,I'm reliably informed it's a grizzly bear cover...I'm ashamed and not that familiar with them. But this is excellent, I love the piss-taking element to it, unless of course i'm totally missing something.

damn nice harmonies there

Hallelujah cover in Dublin (in a venue)

it's not mega quality unfort.

Woah

You don't think this stuff really happens. But it really does.

October 28, 2007—A pirate skiff burns in the Indian Ocean off Somalia's coast after it was hit by several rounds fired from guided missile destroyer U.S.S. Porter.

The U.S. Navy responded to a distress call made by the Japanese chemical tanker Golden Nori, after the pirates hijacked the ship.

On October 29 U.S. navy destroyer U.S.S. James E. Williams engaged another group of Somali pirates who had seized a North Korean vessel.

"This is a very serious security problem on the African coast. These are not pirates who will remind you of Johnny Depp. These are quite different kinds of pirates," U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill, told the Associated Press.

From the excellent National Geographic.

Good God

A gunman opened fire at a Carl Cox gig in Venezuela. More here.

So there i was

It was Friday, always a good day. I love Fridays because i get that seriously delightful joyous Friday feeling. I popped home and was looking forward to a lovely quiet night in, as my friend S says, staying is the new going out.
I realise this may sound a bit...well...sad but i need to take it easy for a while. Am trying that sober november thing that seems to have gripped the country.

So i was going home safe in teh knowledge that i would be screeching with delight at Bloc Party in the Big Top on Saturday. Friday nights in are ok when you know there's a Saturday night out ahead of you.

So i stayed in, and watched the most stunningly ridiculous film on tv3. I'm not sure why i watched it, it was sort of like looking at something gross, you just can't tear yourself away. It was ALMOST as bad as Raising Helen.

Anyway Saturday arrived, and with it all the excitment of the gig, until i was struck down, by the most warped head-pain that i have only experienced once before. And this may sound daft but i think it was caused by this. This happened once before but with Aussie shampoo. Which i think is rotten and scary.

I nearly collapsed in Dunnes in Rathmines, and not because i saw several young lads stuffing sliced pans up their jumpers.

I hobbled home, and lay down in a nice soothing dark room, and had to text my friend to cancel, at literally the last minute. So disappointed cos i heard they were so so deadly.

In other news, i'm trying to beat my apparent developing OCD by turning the volume in my car to 36.

Edit: Oh yeah i forgot. So when i recovered on Sunday i went out shopping. And bought a dress, for no apparent reason. And i had told my friend i'd take her to some tile place, but because the one way streets in Dublin are ridiculously excessive, we didn't make it. Dropped her home, and then shoved a bag in my eye.
I don't even know how it happened, one minute the bag was in my hand, the next it was piercing my eyeball, worst part was it was my good eye!

so basically i think the moral is, don't stop drinking, it will ruin your health and life :/

This Rocks

This family decided to take a picture of themselves every year, you know to see what they looked like and stuff. Well i think it's pretty cool, ch-ch-check it out here. It really is worth a lookie.

This is also quite a fun website, with putting stuff places and dresses and things.
